Hull's faltering start to the first half left them too much to do and a solid second half was not enough to overhaul the runaway league leaders who remain unbeaten so far this season.
Huddersfield got off to the perfect start and they scored a penalty within two minutes of the kick off through the boot of their off half Chris Bell.
Hull were finding possession hard to come to by and after losing a couple of lineouts they found the pressure from the home side mounting. Huddersfield quickly achieved good field position and after a scrum near the Hull line they moved the ball well for their winger Danny Granger to go in at the corner .Bell's touchline conversion stretching the home side's lead to 10 points after just twelve minutes .
Hull then had a couple of promising opportunities with Stafford prominent but lost possession at the vital moment and it was the home side who scored next when an efficient catch and drive resulted in a try for their flanker Hoyle which was converted by Bell after twenty one minutes.
Hull then manged to build some momentum of their own and after their catch and drive attempt on thirty minutes was halted they won a scrum near the home sides line and after good work by Hull's winger Hihetah, Joe Stafford forced his way over the line and Hull's off half Tomasi Tanumi , converted the try to get Hull right back in the game with the score at 17-7 after thirty one minutes.
Unfortunately for Hull Huddersfield's response was immediate and having taken advantage of a couple of penalties given away by Hull they secured lineout ball in the visitors twenty two metre area and good handling saw their centre Hodgson go in after thirty six minutes with Bell's conversion seeing the home side reach the break with a commanding 24-7 lead.
Hull regrouped for the second period and had a long spell of pressure in the early part of the half but a series of promising forward drives were just held out by a determined Huddersfield defence. Hull's number eight Joe Stafford and second row man Kieran McDonald led the charge well but ten minutes of Hull dominance was ultimately to no avail.
Huddersfield then asserted some control of their own but found a defensive wall set up by Hull equal to anything they could throw at it . The home side had the edge over Hull at the scrummage taking one ball against the head but Hull held firm until the seventy seventh minute.
After Hull had sustained a yellow card awarded to Tomasi Tanumi Huddersfield made the most of their numerical superiority and after their number eight powered over from short range leaving scrum half Joel Hinchcliffe the easy task of converting from under the posts to his side home at 31-7 and Hull ruing the first half errors that made it too difficult to take anything from a game where they matched their hosts in every way during the second half.
